Food Collection Volunteer Role
Charity information
Ezra Charitable Trust CIO is a Christian charity seeking to support those in hardship in the area local to Camberley.
Currently the charity offers hot meals and community fridge and is run entirely by volunteers.
Ezra seeks to grow its volunteer supporter base to be able to open more frequently and provide much needed services to the community.
Role Description
In this role, you’ll help support Ezra by collecting food donations from a local supermarket and bringing them back to Ezra. Once back, you’ll label and store the food following our food safety guidelines. This is a lone-worker role, so it’s important to follow the procedures below carefully.
Your responsibilities include:
Collecting food donations from the agreed supplier and returning them to Ezra according to the scheduled rota.
Following the opening and closing checklists each time you carry out a collection.
Bringing all collected food directly back to Ezra as soon as the collection is complete.
Handling all food safely and following hygiene regulations at all times. This includes completing the relevant hygiene paperwork and logs, such as recording fridge and freezer temperatures and noting food on arrival.
Rotating stock correctly so that items with the earliest dates are used first. Please follow Ezra’s guidance on Best Before and Use By dates.
Leaving the food distribution area, floors and surfaces clean and hygienic, and completing any required hygiene records.
Ensuring that all collected food is used to support Ezra clients. If you would like food for personal use, please speak with a Team Leader or attend during opening hours as a client.
Keeping your training up to date, including all mandatory training.
Reading and staying familiar with the latest Ezra Volunteer Handbook.
Thank you for helping us support the community — your time and care make a real difference.
